Built into the hillside on the edge of the tiny hamlet of Montvilliers, La Ferme Blanche has lots of lovely walks, cycling and skiing on the doorstep. It’s in an ideal spot for touring in the Alps and is just a short drive to the ski slopes and lifts of Montalbert (La Plagne / Paradiski). We are dog friendly, so you're welcome to bring your dog and enjoy wonderful walks from the door all year round.
Farmhouse
La Ferme Blanche is an 18th century farmhouse with 3 guest bedrooms, a cosy guest sitting room, log stove and dining area. It has a large garden and sunny terrace with sweeping views down the valley towards Italy, and is surrounded by open countryside. Situated on the edge of the old alpine farming hamlet of Montvilliers, with its apple orchards, wild flower meadows and surrounding forest, La Ferme Blanche is the perfect spot for a relaxing summer or winter retreat.
Bedrooms
- Standard double room: double / twin bed, window seat with lovely mountain views and ensuite shower room (space for extra bed)
- Double room + balcony: double bed, ensuite shower room and balcony (space for extra bed)
- Family suite: double /twin bed, window seat, ensuite shower room and an adjacent bunk room with bunk beds (no window, folding louvred doors, toilet along the corridor)
Village
Montvilliers is an old alpine farming hamlet surrounded by ancient apple orchards, beautiful wild flower meadows and forest. There are lots of good walks, cross country skiing and mountain biking routes straight from the door. We can provide maps and route suggestions, or help you hire a guide.
The hamlet is very quiet, reached along narrow country lanes with very little through traffic. There's a bakery and village store in Longefoy, the next village (20 minute walk), and you can also walk up to the ski resort of Plagne Montalbert (25 minutes depending on conditions, unmarked forest trails). Its tranquil old fashioned alpine atmosphere offers a welcome contrast to the ugly high rise resorts common in the French Alps.
Dinner
For B&B guests, we offer a table d'hôte service on Fridays and Saturdays (35 euros per person for 3 courses + wine + hot drinks), or you can try the restaurants in Montalbert, just 5 minutes from the house by car (only open during the summer & winter seasons), or in nearby Aime (15 minutes drive, open most of the year).
Outdoor activities
The farmhouse is in a very convenient spot for all sorts of mountain activities including walking, cycling, white water rafting, mountain biking and skiing. All are available within a short drive of the chalet.
It's also just a short hop to the lifts in Montalbert, La Plagne - 5 minutes up the hill by car (free shuttle service for half board guests in winter).
Prices
The farmhouse is open in the summer and winter seasons. There is no minimum stay, come and go any day you wish.
Standard double room: 65-140€ per night B&B (room + breakfast)
Double room with balcony: 80-140€ per night B&B (room + breakfast)
Additional sleeping area / bedroom: from 70€ per night B&B
Extra beds in rooms are 50€ per night. A supplement may be charged for stays including a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night. We do not provide cots or high chairs.
Half board
For groups of four or more staying 3 nights or longer, we offer a special half board rate of 65-85€ per person per night. The price includes accommodation, breakfast and a 3 course meal with wine and hot drinks each night.
Half board guests also have use of our courtesy shuttle service to the ski lifts and back in winter (operates at set times morning and afternoon).
Dogs
Please note we have two friendly large dogs that you'll see about the house and garden (they aren't allowed in guest rooms). If you have an allergy or are afraid of dogs, let us know before you come and we'll try to keep them out of your way.
You're welcome to bring your own dog(s) too, it's just 10€ per dog, per night. There's an enclosed garden and good walks on our doorstep.
